If I were a Home
By Gabriela Gerritsen
Here lies,
The smell of the salty ocean waves
The soft, sandy terrain
The warmth of a bonfire
The stars are your neighbor
The moon is your friend
A friendly knock is all you need to come in
A small space with only the essentials
A simple kind of happiness with only one room for my lover and I
The kitchen has been used to prep our meal
Pieces of vegetables here and there
Tonight we choose to cook outside
We invite our friend, the moon, to join us
There is a window on the ceiling
Light shining in and a cool breeze pervades
If I had to change something about this home, it would be the colors
Make them more bright and confident
If you were to see this home, you would get to know it for what it is in it’s entirety
Nothing to hide here
